Porcupine Lake
up-and-back

SHORT HIKE

3.9 miles  900' elevation gain

best season:
July-Oct
but not if snow below:
7,500'

The gravel road up to the trailhead climbs 3000' feet in 11 miles.  There is a charming freshwater creeklet and campsites at the trailhead. The hike goes around the shore of large Toad Lake, then up to the PCT and over to Porcupine Lake below the mountain crags.  Toad Spring comes forth from the rocks, and is well worth the side trip.
